That's life
Painting on OSB wood means embracing the imperfection of a raw material.
The fibers trace invisible paths, knots of memories, layers of lived experience.
Like a life's journey, each plank bears the marks of its past: broken fibers, multiple directions, accidents frozen in the texture. It is upon this memory that the female portraits take shape, their features following the contours, forging a path through the wood's lines, as if their story were intertwined with that of the material. Each work tells a story, an adventure.
Then comes the color, a burst of light laid upon the complexity of the surface. It doesn't mask the scars, it elevates them. It glides between the rough edges, dances with the irregularities, revealing the strength and beauty of these faces.
Optimism and joie de vivre emerge in every nuance, like a vibrant echo of the resilience and richness of their journeys.
Finally, the fluid and smooth lacquer settles like a protective veil, which enhances without erasing, revealing the texture of the scars.
The women I paint are free and strong, liberated, they assert their belonging and their origins.
The raised flowers are the symbol of a restored balance; they are the thread that connects humanity to nature.
